Center for Healthy Children
Our mission is to teach, motivate and guide overweight children and their families to build a solid foundation of proper nutrition and regular exercise for a healthy lifestyle.
Through after school programs in the fall and spring, as well as two summer sessions, participating children and their families are taught portion control, basic nutrition, healthy grocery store shopping as well as information on how to read a food label. Additionally, kids are given the opportunity to participate in various physical activities which teach them ways to become more active.
Working directly with schools and physician offices, Center for Healthy Children takes referrals for kids 8-12 years of age with a BMI (Body Mass Index) of 30 or greater.
The Center for Healthy Teens is an extension of the Center for Healthy Children program and is for teens ages 13-17 with a BMI (Body Mass Index) of 30 or greater. Participating teens receive a personal training session, free twelve week membership to the NEA Baptist Clinic Wellness Center, as well as bi-weekly nutrition classes.

Center for Healthy Children is funded through the foundation, memorials, honorariums and generous gifts from the community and NEA Baptist employees.
Our son Connor, has been attending the Center for Healthy Children program and has enjoyed attending the classes. I have been able to sit in on several nutrition classes which were eye opening to me. I highly recommend this program for any child or teenager. Sarah Lamkin
