Center for Healthy Children

The Center for Healthy Children is a free program where children struggling with obesity learn how to live an active & healthy lifestyle.

The goal of this program is to show participating children how maintaining both an active lifestyle and proper nutrition can improve their health and overall well-being.

Working directly with schools and physician offices, Center for Healthy Children takes referrals for kids 8-12 years of age with a BMI (Body Mass Index) within the obese percentile.

Our summer program has two sessions and runs for three weeks meeting Monday- Friday. Children will be divided into two groups based on age. Our 8 & 9 year olds will go from 11 am to 1 pm while the 10-12 year olds roll from 1:30-3:30. Session one will start on June 22 ending on July 10 and session two will start a week after going from July 20 to August 7. Deadlines for enrolling are June 15th for session one & July 10 for Session two.

Center for Healthy Children is funded through the foundation, memorials, honorariums and generous gifts from the community and NEA Baptist employees.

Our Impact

Our son Connor, has been attending the Center for Healthy Children program and has enjoyed attending the classes. I have been able to sit in on several nutrition classes which were eye opening to me. I highly recommend this program for any child or teenager. Sarah Lamkin
